South Shore Speech was founded by Mary and Steve, combining decades of experience and complementary areas of expertise. Steven leads the clinical and therapeutic work, while Mary focuses on evaluation and overall care planning, creating a collaborative approach that supports patients from start to finish.
Mary S. Boghosian-Asofsky, MA, CCC-SLP/TSHH
Mary is the co-owner and clinical coordinator of South Shore Speech, bringing over 30 years of experience in speech-language pathology. She is known for her work across the lifespan, with a strong focus on early intervention, language development and school-based services, and is dedicated to helping children and adults build the skills they need to communicate and thrive.
Fluent in Armenian, Mary is passionate about connecting with families and creating a supportive, welcoming environment for every patient she works with. She takes a hands-on, family-centered approach and believes in guiding families every step of the way with compassion, patience and personalized care.
Outside of the office, Mary enjoys spending time with family, being involved in her community, traveling to Disney with her loved ones and creating meaningful connections with the people around her.
Steven M. Asofsky, MA, CCC-SLP/TSHH
Steve is the co-owner and managing partner of South Shore Speech, bringing over 30 years of experience in speech-language pathology. He is known for his expertise in swallowing disorders, voice disorders, speech disorders associated with cleft lip and palate and complex medical speech disorders. He is dedicated to helping patients of all ages improve their communication, swallowing function and overall quality of life.
He was recently honored by the Long Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association with the Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his leadership, mentorship and longstanding contributions to the field of speech-language pathology.
Outside of the office, Steve enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. He likes keeping in shape, mountain biking on local trails and getting outside whenever he can. He is a big New York Islanders fan and enjoys going to games, watching sports and rooting for his favorite teams. He also enjoys scuba diving and exploring underwater. At heart, he is a big Disney fan and truly values spending quality time with family and friends.
